Karla Bytnarová
mezzo-soprano
Karla Bytnarová studied at the Conservatoire in Pardubice (Svatava Šubrtová) and in Richard Strauss Conservatoire in Munich (Andrej Kucharský). Between 1996-1997 she was a member of the Opera Studio in Bayerische Staatsoper. She participated in numerous singing competitions: Competition of German Conservatories in Augsburg (1996), International Antonín Dvořák Vocal Competition Karlovy Vary (1992 and 1998), International Ema Destinn Vocal Competition in České Budějovice (2000) and many others.
She has been a guest performer in Südostbayerisches Städtetheater Passau (Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Nicklausse in Les contes d'Hoffmann, Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos), in Landestheater Coburg (Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Czipra in Der Zigeunerbaron), in Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich (Mercedes in Carmen), in Prague State Opera (Carmen) and in Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (Charlotte in Werther). Since 2005 she has been a soloist in the National Theatre in Prague.
She also has an extensive oratorio repertoire which includes Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium, Mathäuspassion, Beethoven's Missa solemnis and 9th Symphony, Dvořák's Requiem and Stabat mater, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, Mozart's Requiem, Great Mass in c minor and Krönungsmesse, Schubert's Masses in A-flat Major and B-flat Major and Verdi's Requiem.
She has been cooperating with principal conductors such as J. Bělohlávek, P. Altrichtr, O. Dohnányi, L. Svárovský, O. Lenárd and Ch. Arming. She has performed at concerts in Canada, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey.
