MUSIC AND MOTION 2013

A fundraising campaign in favour of Peter Dvorsky Foundation, HARMONY

and Denní centrum Barevný svět Public Benefit Company

For the second time in its history the Peter Dvorský International Music Festival has come up with an idea of helping people who have not been as lucky in their lives as the rest of us. We endeavour to help the clients of Peter Dvorsky Foundation, HARMONY and Denní centrum Barevný svět Public Benefit Company. Therefore, as a part of this year’s festival, we have initiated a fundraising drive which is characteristically called Music and Motion. The raised funds will be donated to the social services related to the rehabilitation stays of the clients of both institutions. You can make a donation via bank transfer or you can put your financial contribution into special boxes at all festival concerts. The contribution is voluntary.

Peter Dvorsky Foundation, HARMONY

Peter Dvorsky Foundation, HARMONY is one of the longest-running non-profit organizations in Slovakia, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011. It specializes in the complex care of handicapped children and youth. It was founded in 1991 in order to establish and run a rehabilitation centre for handicapped children. The initiators and founders of the centre were Marta and Peter Dvorský. The foundation provides care to children with orthopaedic, neurological and traumatological diagnoses, with innate developmental disorders and with Poliomyelitis (central nervous system damage). Poliomyelitis disturbs the locomotive development of a child and affects the child’s psyche to various degrees. As for the external manifestations of the disease, they differ from a muscle weakness to a permanent flaccid paralysis.Since the beginnings of the foundation, the support of health care and the social programme for the clients of the Harmony Rehabilitation Centre has been prioritised. The foundation is mainly active in providing social services, mostly in the form of stays in the foundation’s rehabilitation facilities. This makes the rehabilitation care more available to children with miscellaneous movement problems from all over the Slovakia.
