The members of the Czech Brass Sextet Brno started performing together as Academic Brass Quintet during their studies at Janáček Academy of Arts in Brno in 1980. After graduation in 1985 they met as first players of their instruments in Brno Philharmonic. They continue their chamber activities originally as Brno Brass with the possibility to cast various pieces of their repertoire by a various number of players. This repertoire is anchored in late Renaissance (mannerism) and early baroque hornblower culture whose revived expressions have an effect of discovery until this day; and also in contemporary brass works - the ensemble takes care of many premieres in this area. It is clear that apart from pieces with original brass cast the ensemble also performs brass arrangements of manifold popular pieces and evergreens - from Bach's organ fugues to Mozart's serenade for strings to Dvořák's Humoresque, thus providing their proven efficacy with a new sound - and also a new dimension of expression.

After ten years of its activity the ensemble presented a profile CD The Glitter of Brass (MULTISONIC) and a new name, Czech Brass Sextet Brno. They assert themselves by constant concert and public activity at home as well as abroad (Austria, Germany, Italy), recordings in the radio, television and CDs, also while performing with other ensembles and individuals.

The group uses the wide possibilities of brass pieces while keeping original authors' instrumentations (trio, quartet, quintet, sextet). They especially strive to achieve an original sound of the individual pieces, appropriate for the given musical style from Renaissance until the present day.
